These are all sweet but this one was especially so
Marie,
A cute sweet little story。
Tweller83,
12/5/20 - Really cute animal friends wake up someone they have never met while playing in the snow。 Illustrations and story is just adorable。 Super excited for when my granddaughter can read this on her own, but that will be quite a little while yet。 But this is just perfect for those 1st grade -3rd grade transition books。
Beth Anne,
Read aloud to Gwen and Alec。 This one was just so sweet - imagining a snow day for little woodland animals was really clever。 We also loved that there was a homeschooling family introduced! This series continues to be really delightful。
Robin,
This charming, gentle book, showing friends acting kindly toward each other, probably would have received a 4 star rating except that three of the characters should have been hibernating rather than just one。 That fact kept distracting me。
Angie,
If you don't care about parental presence, these books are good for emerging chapter book readers。 I'm reading them aloud to my kindergarten kids, and will not keep them afterwards。 What I like: technically chapter books but with LOTS of illustrations, large print, and simple words to make the transition from picture books a successful one。 The illustrations (black and white sketches, other than the covers), are very cute, with adorable little animal friends。 Lessons of friendship and inclusion。 If you don't care about parental presence, these books are good for emerging chapter book readers。 I'm reading them aloud to my kindergarten kids, and will not keep them afterwards。 What I like: technically chapter books but with LOTS of illustrations, large print, and simple words to make the transition from picture books a successful one。 The illustrations (black and white sketches, other than the covers), are very cute, with adorable little animal friends。 Lessons of friendship and inclusion。 This one has lots of ideas for a fun winter day outdoors。 What I don't like: I've had numerous issues with earlier books in this series。 While not as serious, this book does have a very Disney Channel-esque treatment of parents。 They are mentioned, but not really present as part of the story。 The main character left first thing in the morning for a snow day with friends and didn't come home until dinnertime, but they are elementary school-aged。 That sort of lack of oversight isn't the best example for kids, so I would urge caution and discussion with kiddos, along with balance from books with a healthy parental presence。 。。。more
Debra Phiri (Dragon Nanny),
What a fantastic way to show about different animals sleeping habits in winter。 The girls loved this story a lot。 It was sweet and entertaining。
Andrea Wright,
Adorable little chapter book with great characters having fun on a wintery day。 Not Christmasy at all FYI。
Melody,
🙂🙂🙂
Keri Douglas,
Sophie Mouse and her friends are enjoying a snow day when they accidentally awaken Pippa the hedgehog is hibernating。 Since Pippa doesn't know what snow is, Sophie takes her to do several winter activities。 They play and then help Pippa back to sleep。 This is a super cute beginner chapter book with adorable illustrations。 Young girls will enjoy "The Adventures of Sophie Mouse" series。 Sophie Mouse and her friends are enjoying a snow day when they accidentally awaken Pippa the hedgehog is hibernating。 Since Pippa doesn't know what snow is, Sophie takes her to do several winter activities。 They play and then help Pippa back to sleep。 This is a super cute beginner chapter book with adorable illustrations。 Young girls will enjoy "The Adventures of Sophie Mouse" series。 。。。more
Fia Rapson,
This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 It was good because Sophie mouse helped the hedgehog who was named Pippa go to sleep。 She hibernates。 Mostly hedgehogs do。 Everybody helped Sophie mouse find her purple scarf。 She left it on a shoe mouse they had made。
Kimberly,
This was a cute story。 Sophie Mouse and her friends are having a ton of winter fun, until they disturb someone who normally hibernates through the winter。 Will she be mad? or will she join in on the fun? The kids (4 & 5) really liked this story。
Becky,
Very sweet little story。 Read it to my five year old and she loved it。
Allie,
Cute but kind of plotless。 There was an excerpt at the end and it actually sounds more like one I would like a little more。 Well "like" seems a little optimistic; maybe "appreciate" would be more apt。 Cute but kind of plotless。 There was an excerpt at the end and it actually sounds more like one I would like a little more。 Well "like" seems a little optimistic; maybe "appreciate" would be more apt。 。。。more
Lilah,
I like it!
Jessica,
So sweet and makes me want to go to Pine Needle Grove for a snow day with Sophie and friends!
Juliana Lee,
Sophie and her friends enjoy a snow day。 They make a sled out of a piece of birch and take turns sledding down the hill。 But then Sophie crashes into the bushes。 The crash wakes someone who is hibernating under the bushes。。。 a little hedgehog named Pippa。 Pippa is excited to be awake on a snowy day and joins the friends in snow adventures all day long。 Easy chapters for a beginning chapter book reader combined with a sweet story, friendly characters, and the common experience of snow days, make Sophie and her friends enjoy a snow day。 They make a sled out of a piece of birch and take turns sledding down the hill。 But then Sophie crashes into the bushes。 The crash wakes someone who is hibernating under the bushes。。。 a little hedgehog named Pippa。 Pippa is excited to be awake on a snowy day and joins the friends in snow adventures all day long。 Easy chapters for a beginning chapter book reader combined with a sweet story, friendly characters, and the common experience of snow days, make this a perfect beginning story for a wintery day! 。。。more
